Access to Computer Software

Access to Computer Software

The University’s policy regarding access to Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, limits access in the case of retired academic staff. According to the University policy, only emeritus professors currently have access to this software and then only its online use. Other retired professors and support staff retirees have no access at present, except to "Outlook Web," an online version of MS Outlook. If you have questions about access, please direct them to the University's Information Technology technical support page (requires login): https://www.uottawa.ca/about-us/leadership-governance/vice-presidents/vp-academics/technical-support-professors .

APRUO members who wish to have the full use of a downloaded copy of Microsoft 365 must currently buy an annual subscription. Microsoft does offer an educational discount to eligible individuals. Those who wish to access the educational discount must verify their eligibility at the following web page, and proceed from there: www.microsoft.com/en-ca/workplace-discount-program .
