Association of Professors Retired from the University of Ottawa Platform Infrastructure & Data Residency
The Association of Professors Retired from the University of Ottawa (APRUO) represents retired academic professionals from the University of Ottawa, including professors, librarians, and counsellors. Founded in 1998, the Ottawa-based association is recognized as the official representative of the University’s academic retirees and works to protect their interests, support their well-being, and maintain their connection with the University community. APRUO also provides members with information and representation on matters such as pensions, benefits, and other issues affecting retired academic staff.
To deliver its member portal and administrative operations, APRUO utilizes association management software provided by Members Village.
Active Modules & Deployed Workflows
APRUO runs on an isolated SaaS architecture configured for professional associations. Active applications, but not limited to:
- Membership: Member application and renewals in a PCI-compliant environment.
- Member self-service: Authenticated portal for members with transaction, profile, and communications history.
- Website: Tools to create public and members-only bilingual content.
Privacy Frameworks & Administrative Boundaries
APRUO maintains exclusive ownership of all association member records. The platform enforces controls aligned with federal and provincial privacy mandates:
- CASL: Subscriber opt-outs and personal subscription editing tools.
Core Infrastructure
Infrastructure operations adhere to the following protocols:
- Data Residency:
Primary databases, container clusters, and automated snapshots reside exclusively in Canadian data centers (Toronto, ON). - Network & Storage Encryption:
Enforced HTTPS (TLS 1.3/1.2) in transit; AES-256 data encryption at rest. - Access Controls:
Zero-trust architecture with MFA and SSH key authentication restricted to authorized system engineers.
